Friends reunited – by rail innovation
Welsh rail project GCRE spans 35-year gap for old schoolfriendsOfficially the 2nd Global Centre Of Rail Excellence project meeting in London today was most memorable for the quality and breadth of innovation on display. And it was genuinely impressive, writes our Head of Comms and Project Management, Alan Beck.
But it was hard to look past meeting my best friend from school for the first time in 35 years because his innovation was chosen as well! Congratulations and so great see you Toby Townrow, Drone Evolution.
Toby was among 15 attendees who presented their innovations to the meeting, after insightful contributions from GCRE staff across the project, who gave us updates on the programme.
Final remarks from the Department for Business and Trade’s Head of Rail, Mike Noakes were followed by a networking session (and a hasty pint and catch up with Toby - we only got as far as 1986 - before getting our respective trains!).
