Clough Cottage Farm, near Congleton in Cheshire, is home to 130 Highland Cattle and in December 2024 provided an access-road trial space for a pour of graphene-enhanced concrete paving.
The trial (~75m3) was conducted in conjunction with major UK concrete supplier Breedon, with batching done at its plant in Crewe.
Using Breedon’s low-carbon mix (35% GGBS cement replacement) and Concretene made with graphene from waste streams from energy production, we recorded compressive strength uplifts against a control mix at all ages (1 day 51%, 3 days 26%, 7 days 16%, 28 days 16%). We also achieved minimum design strength of the slab in six days, against 11 days for the control.
