In the first week in July, we welcomed two students, Lillie and Charlie, from Bramhall High School in Stockport for work experience in our materials lab. They learned from our technicians how to cast concrete cubes, store and monitor the samples and then test them for compressive strength.
They were also given a demonstration of how to make Concretene in our formulations lab. They learned about the importance of health and safety: wearing the right protective equipment, following procedures and keeping the workplace clean and tidy.
Lillie said: “I was really interested in how we can make concrete stronger and how it’s going to help the environment.” Thanks to both for their enthusiasm over the week and to Mrs Thorpe, Head of Careers at Bramhall High for overseeing the activity.
